TREE PLANTING

Empowering rural communities, one tree at a time.

We believe in the power of trees to create sustainable change in the lives of rural communities. That’s why we have partnered with the Forestry Research Institute of Malawi.

Working with the Forestry Research Institute of Malawi we train local villages in agroforestry, a sustainable land use management system that integrates trees and crops to optimize the use of land, improve crop yields, and enhance biodiversity and soil health. By combining our efforts, we are able to support local communities in their efforts to improve their livelihoods and adapt to the changing climate.

Our Approach

Why Trees? Why Malawi?

Unfortunately, countries like Malawi are adversely affected by climate change and are least able to deal with its effects. The country is highly vulnerable to extreme weather events such as floods and droughts, which can devastate crops and lead to food shortages. This is especially concerning for a country where more than 80% of the population relies on agriculture for their livelihoods.
