Meet Fellister an Mbedza student

Fellister is an 18 year old girl who recently completed her form four at Chirimba Secondary School. She comes from an extended family that consists of her siblings and her mother’s relatives and cousins. Unfortunately, most of her relatives including her elder siblings dropped out of school due to economic challenges, which is too often the case in Malawi. Despite this, Fellister always worked hard and had bright dreams for her future and her family.

In 2018, after passing her Primary School Leaving Certificate examinations, she was awarded a place at a local community secondary school. This was one of the happiest moments in her life as she was the first in her family to achieve this. However, upon starting secondary school, she was met with the same challenge of school fees. Many times she was turned away from school due to failure to pay school fees, but one lucky day she was invited by her teacher to sit for one of our aptitude tests and that is how she came to. be one of our sponsored students.

Through our help, Fellister has been able to complete her secondary education which could make a huge difference to her life. An education that could have saved her from early marriage, prostitution and many other unimaginable scenarios that she could have gone through without the resources to support herself. Who knows, she might be the one to break the cycle of poverty in her family.

Currently, Fellister is working as an assistant teacher at a Private School as she awaits for final year examination results.

Good Luck Fellister!
